ND. Ráno se potvrzuje, že tlaková níže je už pryč a my můžeme letět. Zašli jsme na ekonomickou snídani za dva dolary: dva tousty, dvě vejce, trošku slaniny, a odebrali se na autobus č. 53. Mezitím na jednu paní mluvil asi 5 minut plynně německy, skvěle imitoval německý přízvuk a vůbec mu nevadilo, že mu ta dobrá žena nerozuměla ani slovo. Přesto jí to ale pěkně všechno vysvětlil. V černých brejličkách, šortkách a strakaté košili vypadal docela úspěšně na německého turistu, a tak ho paní brala docela shovívavě. Před letištěm v Niagara Falls se Richard zděsil a začal tomu řidiči vyčítat, že nás nepochopil a dovezl nás na toto letišťátko, když my přece chtěli na mezinárodní do Buffala, které je asi 20 kilometrů odsud.

Po dvou a půl hodinovém letu kroužíme nad Connecticutem, slétli jsme již pod mraky pod nimi slušná viditelnost, předtím bylo občas vidět kraj pod námi jen dírami v mracích. Nad mraky je klidnější vzduch, bez turbulencí, ty teď hází letadlem nahoru a dolů. Přelétáme Hudson River a když sledujeme pohledem její řečiště, je možno na obzoru rozeznat takový hrbolek plný malých jehliček Manhatten. Krajina v Connecticutu je velmi příjemná, pestře zbarvené porosty listnatých stromů zaplňují téměř celý povrch, v nich jsou rozsety baráčky, pak městečko New Heaven a už se snášíme na letištní plochu a výlet je za námi. Kluci odevzdali letadlo, vyměnili jsme si adresy a Mark mě hodil na nádraží příměstské železnice, odkud to jezdí na Grand Central Station na 42. street, přímo do centra Manhattanu. Cesta trvá 90 minut. Dnes je navíc svátek tudíž sleva, a proto platím jen US 10, a za 10 minut mi to dokonce jede. Vlak se brzy na dalších zastávkách zaplnil lidmi. Jinými lidmi, než na jaký jsem byl teď dlouho zvyklý velkoměstskými lidmi. Ztahané tváře, pohledy do prázdna, hlavy s walkmany atd... Celou cestu jsme se ani na moment neocitli mimo plně urbanizovanou oblast.
