Dalším krasavcem je lanýž zimní, Tuber brumale, který dosahuje o něco více než poloviční hodnoty černého lanýže. Má šedočernou barvu s bílým žilkováním, někdy příjemnou, častěji však příliš silnou pižmovou vůni a chuť má mírně nahořklou se stopou po zemitém humusu.

Za černý lanýž z Périgordu by znalec snadno mohl pokládat lanýž burgundský, Tuber uncinatum. Tito dva však mají společnou jen povrchovou barvu, jinak jsou si podobní asi tolik jako hříbek a liška. Uvnitř je burgundský lanýž tmavě hnědý s četným žilkováním, voní po houbách a je-li plně zralý, mizí jeho původní hořkost a místo ní se objevuje lehce oříšková chuť. Nesnáší žádnou tepelnou úpravu, ztrácí při ní veškerou svou chuť, a proto se jí výhradně syrový.

Příbuzným burgundského lanýže je bílý lanýž letní Tuber aestivum, kterému se také říká svatojánský. Není ani zdaleka tak vzácný jako bílý z Alby – upřímně řečeno není vzácný vůbec. Nejčastěji se objevuje v různých paštikách a jiných pokrmech. V čerstvém stavu je na povrchu hnědý až načernalý a uvnitř béžový s bílým žilkováním. Slabě voní po houbách a podrostu a jeho chuť je nahořklá se stopou po zemině. Na bílý letní lanýž můžete při troše štěstí narazit i v Česku.

Jedním z nejméně ceněných lanýžů je Tuber mesentericum. Je malý, tuhý, tmavě kaštanové až čokoládové barvy s bílým žilkováním. Nevoní příliš příjemně, aroma je totiž příliš silné a v pozadí je cítit fenol (to ale po vyjmutí z půdy postupně mizí). Chutná nahořkle, ale přesto se perfektně hodí do některých pokrmů.
